The cricket matches were shot on various playgrounds around the UK. Shooting began in Glasgow, Scotland. In England, match re-enactments happened at the Nevill Cricket Ground, Tunbridge Wells; Stowe School, Stowe; Dulwich College, London; The Oval, London.

The pièce-de-résistance of the shoot was of course shooting at the Lord’s Cricket Ground, the Mecca of English cricket, and the venue where the Indians beat two-time champions West Indies to lift the Cup against all odds. The iconic scene of Kapil Dev being given the trophy, the Indian team displaying the trophy from the balcony at Lord’s, and scenes in the famous Long Room were re-enacted in the film at Lord’s itself.
